2009 Beijing Investment Promotion at Boston
“Beijing Invites High-Tech Talents, Projects and Investments”

During its visit to US in the September 2009, the Beijing government delegation will stage a number of activities for inviting sci-tech and industrial professionals and suitable projects for realizing the city’s vision of a leap-forward industrial development. Through these activities, the delegation will also release information concerning the economy, prioritized industries, resources and demand for talents of Beijing. The delegation will be led by the Deputy Director-General, Mr. Zhou Weimin.

Agenda
10:00am-12:00pm: Beijing’s demand for oversea talents
Participants: Sci-tech and industrial professionals, senior technicians, skilled workers and intermediary agencies
Details:
a. Briefings on the immediate demand for professionals by Beijing for its major projects, which cover areas of IT, biotech, digital display, energy saving, environment protection, new materials, new energy, equipment manufacturing, etc.;
b. Briefings on the policies of encouraging overseas Chinese talents to start up businesses in Beijing; and
c. Discussion.

12:00pm-13:30pm: Buffet lunch & Social Networking(pre-registration required)

14:00pm-16:00pm: Roundtable meeting on suitable projects(by invitation only)
Participants: Start-up investors, venture capitalists, PE partners and intermediary agencies
Details:
a. Briefings on the intended models of cooperation between Beijing Municipal Government and American venture capital, start-up fund and private equity to bring suitable projects to Beijing and boost the growth of prioritized industries;
b. Assisted by US partners, seek for the suitable projects which were invested by PE, VC, start-up fund and are currently facing capital shortage and bankruptcy, and find potential opportunities in favor of Beijing by M&A.
