On October 25th, 2014, Chinese American Biomedical Association (CABA) organized its 5th annual Biomedical Investment & Entrepreneurship Symposium at Cambridge, Massachusetts. This symposium was one of CABA’s three signature events that endeavor to continue strengthening the connection between scientists, entrepreneurs and investors.

The symposium was attended by about 150 brilliant young researchers, business delegates and talented students, representing more than 70 companies and research organizations, who have made this event successful.

The keynote sessions, invited lectures by honored guests, panel discussions and all the other sessions highlighted the current challenges, issues and opportunities in pharmaceutical research --reflected by the theme of the symposium “Opportunities for Biomedical Scientists, Investors and Entrepreneurs”. The theme also touched upon various topics like "the best cross-border opportunities for American and Chinese entrepreneurs and investors, through the keynote presentation, Jonathan Fleming, the Managing Partner of Oxford Bioscience Partners.  He not only evaluated the differences in Chinese and American biomedical market, but also pointed out the huge potential in the rapidly developing medical device market in China.

The other keynote presentation by Dr. Adam Koppel, Chief Strategy Officer of Biogen Idec, thoroughly explained how to evaluate the value of a company from an investor’s perspective, which was enlightening to both young entrepreneurs and investors. The esteemed guests, well-known entrepreneurs and delegates also shared their vast experience through panel discussions at the end of symposium.  These provided a rewarding learning environment to all the attendees.

CABA is committed to promoting public awareness of advancement in the pharmaceutical and biomedical industry and professional interaction in the fields of life sciences, global biomedical innovations and business development.

CABA wishes to acknowledge all the organizing committee members, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors and media partners in making this event a great success. Thank you to everyone for the enormous positive response, which inspires us to continue organizing events and conferences to further connections between academia, industry and investors.
